Information

Digital position indicators EN 9053 are extremely versatile in use, with virtually every counting option selectable directly at the device via the operating keys. The power necessary for the display is supplied by a long-life battery.

The indicators are assembled directly onto the spindle via their hollow shaft, with the torque limiting pin defining the position for the mounting site.

Mounted in this way, the indicators will detect the rotary spindle movement and show the appropriate value on the display.

Both housing sections are ultrasonically welded, making the housing extremely tight, stable and compact.

The foam rubber seal prevents the transmission of vibrations and also acts as a seal.

Installation Instructions

Montagehinweise GN 9053

Before installation of the position indicator, a bore hole for the torque limiting contact point is to be drilled, as shown in the in the adjacent drawing.

With the Mounting Adaptors EN 952.1 the hollow shaft (with bore 14 H7) of the position indicator can be adapted to fit the spindle.

If a reduction in the diameter of the hollow shaft is to be made at the same time as mounting a control knob, Control Knobs GN 957 are available which combine both functions in a single component (no adaptor bushings required).

The position indicator is mounted with the torque limiting contact point inserted in the bore hole, to stabilize the housing in place. The hollow shaft is mounted to the spindle and secured with the set screw.

With Clamping Plates GN 9053.6 spindles can be clamped and secured after adjusting.

Operating Principle

Electronic position indicators EN 9053 / EN 9054 / EN 9153 are very similar to mechanical position indicators EN 953 / EN 954 / EN 955 with regard to installation and external dimensions and can normally replace them.
The protection class IP 65 or IP 67 of the housing permits use in wet areas, even in contact with direct streams of water.
The measurement of the spindle rotations takes place directly, electronically and without contact. The required energy is supplied by a lithium battery with a lifespan of 5 or 8 years that can be easily replaced.
The special advantage of the electronic position indicator lies in its programmability. Nearly any desired counting option can be configured directly on the device using the function buttons.

With 3 or 4 function buttons, it is possible to:
--Switch between incremental and absolute measurement modes
--Change the unit of measurement (mm, inches or degrees)
--Reset the counter or set an offset value
--Change the display after one rotation of the shaft and set the resolution, in other words, the number of decimal places displayed
--Set the direction of rotation / counting direction
--Adjustment for the display orientation (depending on the installation situation) and the maximum rotation speed
