Product description

Information

The polished wheel rim, light gray cover cap, and black plastic coated wheel body give these handwheels a very attractive appearance.
The cover cap protects the bearing from dust, while acting as a shield for the mounting components.

The wheel hub has an internal groove to keep the cover cap in place. The cap is pushed into position by hand and can be removed by prying at the relief point with a screwdriver.
Needle bearings are greased during assembly with ample grease for permanent lubrication.

No mounting hole in rim for handwheel without handle. Handle shipped loose; mounting of handle is required.

Application Notes

The relevant health and safety at work provisions state that handwheels must be attached to spindles such that they are not turned along together with the machine drive assembly. Safety clutch handwheels meet this requirement:

If not in operation, the wheel is disengaged. Shifting it in axial direction (pushing or pulling) will intermesh two serrated bushings, engaging the wheel with the shaft.
After releasing, the wheel will disengage again automatically.

These safety clutch handwheels are an advance development of the Safety Clutch Assemblies GN 000.5 (with needle bearing).
The coupling elements have been specially developed for this type of handwheel and are therefore not intended for general use. Also, they are only intended for the “pulling” mode of engagement.

The user notices listed under the application notes of GN 000.4 and 000.5 also apply here. Owing to their type of construction, especially the cap, these handwheels are largely protected from dirt.
